ALTERED BALLARD MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 44. SN 15575. Very late production Ball & Williams Ballard with 30″ oct bbl, std open sights with 500 yard 2-position rear sight. Mounted with orig military buttstock and a replacement extended forearm. Breech end of bbl has been permanently converted to percussion with the 2-position hammer nose altered for percussion only. CONDITION: Good. Bbl retains about 65-75% orig blue, thin over chamber area with spots turning plum & a few scattered pinpoints of pitting. Receiver is mostly silver metal color with a few traces of orig blue and scattered moderate pitting on right side. Buttstock is sound with swivel having been cut from base and the screws missing, otherwise retains a hand worn patina. Forearm retains a smooth patina. Trigger return spring is either broken or missing, otherwise mechanics are fine, brilliant shiny bore. 4-30415 JR8 (1,000-1,500)
