LATE 19TH CENTURY GERMAN ENLISTED MAN’S CAVALRY METAL PICKLEHAUB STYLE HELMET. Round bucket style helmet with pointed spike on top, nickeled steel with a lobster tail style back edge and a short brim over front edge. Front has the German crest of a large eagle with a ribbon across its breast & wings inscribed “MIT GOTT FUR KOENIG UND VATERLAND” (With God For King & Country). It has an orange & white rosette on right side and a black & white rosette on left with leather chin strap and orig leather lining. CONDITION: Fair to good. Overall quite tarnished retaining generous amounts of orig finish. Lining is intact. 4-35048 (2,250-2,750)
