THREE ORIENTAL CARVED FIGURES. 19th/20th Century. First a carved figure of waiter serving a turtle entree attired in vermilion and gold brocade robe in red lacquer and with silver gilt decoration. Waiter also lacquered in gold gilt with unique facial features and with long hair and headdress. Now mounted in later stand. Pair of foo dogs in vermilion, black and gold paint. Each on carved plinth. In classic poses, each with free floating ball within its mouth. Each on rockwork plinth. SIZE: Waiter: 16-1/2″ h. Foo Dogs: 7-3/4″ h. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: Waiter structurally very good with some drying and flaking to painted, lacquered, and gilded surfaces. Each foo dog with small losses to collars, tips of tail and ears. Painted surfaces good. 9-23212 (800-1,200)
