H. E. NORTON (19TH/20TH CENTURY) SHIPPING OFF THE COAST. Oil on canvas coastal scene shows a three-masted schooner sailing left to right with two smaller schooners off bough. A green white-tipped sea with land beyond. All under a white blue cloud sky. Signed lower left “H.E. NORTON” and housed in a decorative gesso and partial gilt frame with linen liner. On the back is a label indicating the work is by Arthur P. Richardson of Liverpool, England. Also the “FENWAY ART CENTER, BOSTON” label. SIZE: 20″ x 30″. CONDITION: Unrepaired 2″ tear in sky, craquelure with some chipping at stretcher edge, otherwise good. 9-99835 (400-600)
