EDWARD SHERIFF CURTIS (American 1858-1962) “PRAYER TO THE STARS”. A fine Curtis goldtone shows an Indian brave with both arms raised to the sky. He stands on a rock outcropping with signature in bottom right. Housed in an original “spread winged bat corner” frame with some losses. Curtis offered two different frames in the sale of his goldtones, one was this and the other “Pie Crust”. Curtis was not the originator of the goldtone process but perfected it in his use of 32 images. The image is a positive on glass. SIZE: Sight: 13-1/4” x 10-1/4”. CONDITION: Good. When viewing the image there is some light speckling which we believe to have been done at the time of its creation. Some feel that this handwork is an asset to the image. 9-90000 (10,000-15,000)
