WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 LOW WALL RIFLE. Cal. 22 WRF. SN 85453. Standard grade rifle with 26” No. 1 weight oct to rnd bbl, small tube front sight, slot blank in rear seat and an unusual musket style tang sight with exposed tension spring. Mounted with very nicely figured, slab sawed, uncheckered, American walnut with black insert, semi-schnable tipped forearm and straight stock with crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl retains 25-30% thin, orig blue with the middle 1/3 a silver/brown patina. Receiver retains 75-80% thinning orig blue with some flaking to medium patina. Wood is sound and retains most of an old refinish. Good mechanics, bright shiny bore with a few spots of light pitting just in front of chamber. This is a fairly scarce caliber in this rifle. 4-30397 JR307 (1,500-2,000)
