CORNELIUS DAVID KRIEGHOFF (Canadian, 1815-1872) FUELING THE BLACKSMITH’S FIRE. Oil on canvas scene shows a man in front of what appears to be a Blacksmith’s furnace while a woman crosses a frozen pond with a bundle of sticks on her back. A house is seen on the far right in a winter landscape with snow, grasses and trees. The man wears a red coat and blue pants with arms outstretched toward the opening in the forge. Signed lower left “C. Krieghoff”. Housed in a shell decorated gesso replacement frame. SIZE: 8” x 12”. CONDITION: Good. 5-71767 (20,000-30,000)
