*FINE A.H. FOX XE GRADE SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 25763. Cal. 12 ga., 26″ Chromox steel bbls, matted concave rib, ivory front and white center sighting beads, MOD/IMP.MOD chokes, 3″ chambers, ejectors and dbl triggers. Top of right bbl marked “CHROMOX FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL” and left “MADE BY A.H. FOX GUN CO. PHILA. PA U.S.A.”. Chamber area of both bbls have 1-3/4″ wedge of bold leafy foliate scroll, the rebated frame is engraved in typical “X” style, with oval scene of 2 waterfowl on left side with “ANSLEY H. FOX” above it, 2 quail in flight on right side with “ANSLEY H. FOX”, circle with upward looking fox on bottom, with balance a bold leafy foliate scroll. Mounted with nicely figured walnut, sculpted checkered side panels, multi-point checkered rnd knob pistol grip, and Jostam anti-flinch recoil pad, checkered splinter forend with ebony schnabel tip insert. Bore diameter: left -.725, right -.729. Bore restrictions: left -.018, right -.010. Wall thickness: left -.023, right -.031. Drop at heel: 2-7/8″, drop at comb: 1-5/8″. Weight: 6lbs. 13oz. LOP 14″. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 90-95% orig blue with minor muzzle wear, some minor dings & scratches, some areas starting to thin, and rub mark on bottom from forend. Receiver shows traces of orig case colors in protected areas with remainder a pleasing soft silver patina. Stock is sound with good checkering, minor grain crack on lower right side, typical minor light handling marks and retains a nice hand rubbed oil finish. Forend is sound with hairline crack at bottom at forend iron, slightly worn checkering, a few minor handling marks, and retains orig finish blended with hand worn patina. Mechanics are crisp with non-auto safety, strong ejectors, nice bores that are slightly frosted. 4-40105 (4,000-7,000)
