PAIR OF J. & J.W. MEEKS “STANTON HALL” LAMINATED CARVED ROSEWOOD SOFAS. Circa 1860. Each fine example of this New York form with scrolled leaf-carved and pierced rail with gadrooned cresting centering a scrolled floral cartouche, above the undulating upholstered shaped back with molded scrolled arms centering the upholstered seat with molded serpentine rail with carved central cartouche, raised on short molded cabriole legs, terminating in brass casters. SIZE: Each 45″ h. x 64″ overall l. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: In very fine condition overall, retaining cleaned original surfaces, newly recovered in a floral silk brocade, the frames sturdy.
