WESTLEY RICHARDS NEW MODEL UNDER LEVER SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal 450-400 3-1/4”. SN 34557. Made for the Army & Navy store, London. This rifle has a 28” oct to rnd bbl with pedestal front sight and 3-leaf platinum line express sight (1 standing, 2 folding) graduated to 300 meters. It has the usual Westley Richards receiver made for right hand operation with a sliding safety. It is mounted in a checkered 2-pc stock and forearm with horn tip and pistol grip stock, 14-1/2” over a serrated steel buttplate with trap. The top of the bbl is marked with the makers name and address. The left side is marked “W.R high velocity nitro express rifle 400 bore 3-1/4 case”. The right side is marked “Made for the Army & Navy C.S.LD London 45117”. The left flat, over the chamber, is marked “400EX/CORDITE 60 GR BALL 400 GR MAXM”. The left side of the receiver has the makers name and address. CONDITION: Bbl retains about all of a fine professionally restored finish. Receiver retains 94-95% bright original blue turning dull in a few areas. Lever retains 88-90% original blue and the breechblock, most of its original case colors. Stock and forearm are sound and retain about all of a fine professionally restored finish. Brilliant shiny bore. 4-50250 JR205 (6,000-10,000)
