*FINE RED 9 MAUSER BROOMHANDLE SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN 93865. Cal. 9 mm. Blue finish with 5-1/2″ tapered rnd bbl with integral barleycorn front sight and 500 meter adjustable rear sight. Mounted with grooved 2-pc wood grips with large impressed red “9” on each side. Grips are matching numbered. Although this model of Broomhandle was produced in large quantities in the period 1916-1918, they are rarely found with high orig finish. They were issued to German troops and used the last 2 years of WWI with some recovered pieces reissued to German troops in WWII. Those that were captured and brought to the U.S. also saw service and use and usually show heavy handling wear. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine, all matching including grips. Overall retains 95-96% strong orig military finish blue with holster/stock wear on bottom of bbl and sharp edges of frame. Side rails are slightly thin. Trigger, extractor and sight slide retain strong fire blue with firing pin retainer faded fire blue. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. 4-39269 JR287 (1,500-2,500)
