EDWARDIAN BUTTERFLY BROOCH. Magnificent Edwardian brooch is in the form of a butterfly with beautiful pink tourmaline and diamond wings with emerald body and feelers. This outstanding brooch is set throughout the wings with various shapes of faceted pink tourmaline including pear shaped, oval and round. The various shapes and cuts give the wings a wonderful three-dimensional look with subtle variations of color and sparkle. The upper part of the wing is also finished with a single Old Mine cut diamond at the bottom edge of each wing. The upper body of the butterfly is set with an oval cabochon emerald and the ends of each feeler is finished with a square step-cut emerald. The wings are attached to the body with an unusual hinged system that allows both sections of the wing to be positioned differently to go from a flat brooch to a more three-dimensional butterfly with raised wings. Marked on the back of the clasp “14k” however, the remaining gold work tests 18k. SIZE: 1-1/2″ w. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. 9-94650 (1,000-2,000)
