*PRE-WAR COLT ACE SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. Cal. 22 LR. SN 6710. Blue finish commercial Ace with 4-3/4″ bbl, fixed front sight & adjustable rear sight. It has full checkered walnut grips & an orig 2-tone magazine with correct marked base. There were fewer than 11,000 of these fine pistols ever produced prior to WWII. Spring guide has been altered with addition of several leather washers, apparently to add spring tension after the spring had been cut. Accompanied by a Colt Factory letter fully identifying this pistol as having been shipped Sept. 25, 1936 to “Comm. of Massachusetts/ C.O. 1/10 Cav./ Boston, Massachusetts” in a shipment of one pistol. Also accompanied by its orig dark maroon hinged lid box that contains the owner’s pamphlet, a shooting suggestions pamphlet, a yellow hang tag with instructions for adjusting sight & orig target. CONDITION: Very fine. Overall retains 95-96% strong bright orig blue with slight muzzle edge wear & some thinning to front strap. Mechanics are fine, grips are crisp, bright shiny bore.
