*EXTREMELY RARE FACTORY ENGRAVED WITH GOLD WALTHER MODEL 9 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN 43110. Cal. 6.35 mm (25 ACP). Smallest of all the Walthers, this tiny pocket pistol has a 2″ bbl with fixed sights & is mounted with extraordinary carved & checkered ivory grips with a Walther banner incorporated in each side. Left side has a blue & gold cloisonne button with initials “CW” in an oval and right side has a blue & gold cloisonne button with caliber marking. Entire surface of pistol has exceedingly beautiful & fine, intertwined foliate arabesque pattern engraving with fine gold wire borders around all surfaces. Front edge of slide is engraved in script “C. Willig”. This is one of the more elaborate German pistols ever examined by this cataloguer & further research should be conducted to determine Mr. Willig’s status with the Nazi war machine. He surely must have been someone of great importance in the Hitler hierarchy. PROVENANCE: Doug Smith Collection. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine, all matching, as new, appears to be unfired. Grips are fine with a fine mellow ivory patina. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. 4-36123 JR239 (7,000-10,000)
