ANNA ELIZA HARDY (American, 1839-1934) PINK ROSES AND VASE. Oil on canvas still life scene shows a bulbous vase with three pink roses and green leaves with five pink roses and leaves set beside the vase. All against a light gray background with light reflection off of the tabletop. Signed bottom right “A E Hardy”. Housed in a period gilt and carved wood frame. On reverse of stretcher is a “W. H Gorham” framers label from Bangor, Maine. SIZE: 14″ x 20″. PROVENANCE: Wedding gift from the artist to Christine Peirce of Bangor, Maine, 1913. Descended to Gordan Douglas from the Estate of his mother, Christine Peirce Douglas, 1979 to his daughter, 2006. CONDITION: Very good. 9-95805 (4,000-6,000)
