*REMINGTON MODEL 1917 RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. SN 56437. 26” bbl dated “12-17”. This 1917 Remington is one of the finest that cataloguer has had opportunity to observe. It retains nearly all of its finish with fine blued features throughout. There is a WWI 03 sling with some coated oxidation from storage. CONDITION: Receiver retains 98% or better of orig factory blue. Rear sight also contains all of its finish & is “R” marked. Bbl has some surface dirt on it but retains 98% of its finish as well as front sight which is also “R” marked. Front bbl band retains 90% of its finish with several light scratches on right side from (assumed) rack storage. Trigger guard & floorplate assembly show 98-99% orig finish with just a little dirt from being stored. Buttplate assembly shows 95% orig finish with slightest scratching on high spots from sitting in a rack. Buttstock assembly has a rack number, a brass rack tag of number “44” tacked into it just in front of butt plate, but other than that shows almost new with finger grooves being very sharp and eagle over “339” in front of floorplate is extremely legible. There are only the minutest scuff marks in buttstock anywhere. Rear hand guard is flawless, has no marks of any kind & front hand guard has very tiny nick approx. 1” behind front bbl band. Bore is as new. This is the finest example of a Remington 1917 that one could expect to obtain. 4-57836 BK55 (1,500-3,000)
