TWO SEVRES HISTORICAL SERIES PORTRAIT PLATES. Late 18th century. First with portrait of “Mme de Sevigne”. Second with portrait of “Anne d’Autriche”. Transfer and gilt decorated with hand painted detail on a “duberry rose” ground. Underside of each plate gilt decorated with hard paste Sevres mark beneath name of subject and additionally marked with monogram of the gilder Andre-Joseph Foinet (1758-1839), known as “La France”. SIZE: 9-1/4″ dia. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: Very good overall with minimal wear to painted and gilded surfaces.
