*SMITH & WESSON MODEL 29 DA REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Mag. SN S220518. Scarce nickel finish, 4-screw, with 4” bbl, red ramp front sight and adjustable rear sight with standard trigger & hammer with early style diamond checkered Coke bottle medallion magnum grips. Accompanied by an original Smith & Wesson black leatherette, purple satin lined presentation case with tools. Also accompanies is a Smith & Wesson letter identifying this revolver as having been shipped October 10, 1962 to International Distributors Inc., Miami, FL. This revolver is apparently a transition piece as the back of the cylinder is stamped with an “L” indicating left hand threads on the ejector rod, however, the model number is not a 29-1, which was the model change for this feature. Mr. Jinks addresses this in the letter stating that he had never seen such a stamping, but that it was possible for the factory to have done so and that no records exist of such stamping. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. All matching except the grips which are unnumbered. Retains most of its original nickel finish with light, fine handling and use marks, crisp mechanics and bright shiny bore. Extremely fine grips. Exterior of the box is extremely fine with the inside hinge cover material broken and the satin lining is soiled with some wear around the sights area. 4-51765 JR489 (1,250-1,750)
