*COLT MODEL 1905 CIVILIAN SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN 4125. Cal. 45 ACP. Blue finish with 5″ bbl, standard fixed sights with thin half moon front sight and round top V-notch rear sight. Slide has standard markings with rampant Colt in a circle at left rear end. Hammer is color case hardened with checkered spur and it is mounted with diamond checkered walnut grip panels. Accompanied by one all blue magazine with unmarked base. Approx. 6,100 of these rare pistols were produced in the period 1905-1911 when they were supplanted by the advent of the Model 1911. 201 of this production were sold to the U.S. Government with the balance sold to other contracts and on the civilian market. As with its predecessor, the Model 1905 was instantly accepted as a self-defense side arm and usually saw extensive and heavy service. They are rarely found today retaining much orig finish. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine. Overall retains 97-98% strong, crisp, dark orig factory blue with only slight muzzle end wear on slide and very minor sharp edge wear elsewhere. There is one small spot of cleaned rust with fine pitting on top of slide and a couple of small thin spots on front strap. Hammer retains about all of its brilliant case colors. Grips are sound with some lightly flattened diamonds and retains about all of its orig varnish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore, may be unfired. 4-40580 JR55 (4,000-6,000)
