*WINCHESTER MODEL 1917 ENFIELD RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. SN 120987. 26” bbl dated “1-18”. A phenomenal example of a Winchester Model 1917 showing as little wear as one could possibly imagine. Rifle shows as nearly new. CONDITION: Receiver retains 98% or better orig blue with eagle marks being very obvious. Rear sight assembly contains all of its finish. Safety & magazine catch also contain 98-99% of orig blue. Bbl & front sight assembly retains 98-99% of orig blue with just slightest bit of wear on sides of sight & on very bottom of muzzle. Front bbl band shows 98% blue with a “W” marked on bottom of bayonet lug with a very light scratch on right hand side of band itself. Center bbl band shows all of its finish. The only flaws seen are somebody obviously used incorrect screwdrivers at some point to disassemble this rifle thus buggering three screws on two bbl bands. Trigger guard assembly shows 95% of its blue with just the slightest dirt around edges. Floorplate shows approx. 90% of blue, any loss being from sling rubbing against it. Rear trigger guard screw appears to be a replacement. Buttplate assembly, which is “W” marked in trap with a nickel oiler shows approx. 90% of its finish with only wear being on high spots from being in a rack. Buttstock shows excellent plus with a small ding in right hand side just behind safety & a very light scratch in left hand side along side of receiver as well as very minor handling marks between receiver & middle band. There is also a very tiny chip between front band screw & stacking swivel screw, obviously from someone slipping with a screwdriver. Hand guards show excellent plus with one small dent in rear one, approx. 1/8” x 1/4”, 1-1/2” behind middle band & with two or three very small dings in front hand guard on top between two bands from rack storage. Bore is dirty but with very crisp rifling; should clean to excellent. By far one of the best Winchester 1917’s this cataloguer has seen. 4-57834 BK56 (1,500-3,000)
