TWO GERMAN FLORAL DECORATED CUPS AND SAUCERS. 19th century. 1) Cup with lid and saucer encrusted with white flower heads overlaid with sprigs of flowering roses. Each side of cup applied with a bird, as is the finial of the lid. Saucer decorated on interior with pink floral sprays. Bottom of cup and saucer with pseudo-Meissen crossed swords mark in underglaze blue with two cut lines beneath the crossed swords possibly signifying a rejected item after manufacture. 2) 6-footed cup and saucer floral decorated overall, applied with blue floral sprigs emanating from feet. Also decorated with polychrome painted insects. With Meissen mark of crossed swords in underglaze blue. SIZE: 1) Overall: 4″ h. Saucer: 5″ dia. 2) Overall: 3-1/4″ Saucer: 5-1/4″ dia. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: 1) Very good overall with minor and minimal losses to some flower petals. Note: Vertical firing cracks noted around rim of saucer beneath glaze. 2) With damages to some floral sprigs and to some flower petals. 9-23331 (800-1,200)
