*EXTREMELY RARE SINGER MODEL 1911A1 SEMI-AUTO MILITARY PISTOL. SN S800332. Cal. 45 ACP. Blue finish with 5″ bbl that has a “P” proof on top left rear side of bbl lug. Slide is marked on left side “S. MFG. CO. / ELIZABETH, N.J., U.S.A.”. Top of slide, forward of rear sight has a “P” proof with the leg pointing forward. Left side of frame has an identical “P” proof just above the magazine release and the “JKC” (Lt. Col. John K. Christmas) inspector initials behind and above the trigger opening. Right side of the frame, slightly above and to the right of the grip, is marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY” with the SN below. Pistol has an arched mainspring housing with fine checkered back strap, a long spur grip safety and short wide hammer spur. Mounted with orig unaltered Singer brown plastic grips without donuts around the screw holes and no reinforcing on the inside. Accompanied by one orig Singer magazine and two Colt commercial magazines. Also accompanied by a WWII era brown flap holster with “US” embossed on the flap and two 20-rd boxes of WWII 45 ACP ammunition with head stamps “RA 41”. Additionally accompanied by a small tin box containing a pair of military issue metal frame yellow lens goggles and a small tin of three Trojan prophylactics. This is believed to be one of the finest Singer pistols to come to market in recent years. This pistol and accessories is consigned from a Northeast family who inherited it from their Father, a WWII veteran. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. Overall retains 96-98% strong orig blue with slight muzzle end wear on the slide and a small series of nicks on top of the slide just forward of the ejection port. Temper line is readily visible. Frame also shows light front edge wear with a couple of thin spots on the front strap and a couple more on trigger bow, otherwise blue is dark & strong. Bbl retains 88-90% strong orig blue, thinning over the skirt & chamber area with some light wear toward the muzzle. Grips have a chipped diamond and a couple of small bruises on right side, otherwise show only light wear. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. Orig magazine has a couple of wear spots on the sides with some minor use wear around the top and overall retains about 95% strong orig blue. Two commercial magazines are very fine. Cartridge boxes are still sealed but show moderate wear with the visible ammunition crisp & clean. Metal box & goggles are extremely fine. Prophylactics are crystallized & fragile, tin is fine. 4-40968 JR277 (20,000-35,000)
