*WINCHESTER MODEL M1-D GARAND SNIPER RIFLE. SN 2441706. Cal. 30-06. Usual configuration with 24″ bbl marked with drawing number and date “1-53 MD 34” and a small ordnance wheel. It has standard battle sights, a clamp-on flash hider and is mounted with M84 scope with rubber eye cup, SN 9173. Mounted in a 1-pc walnut stock with 2-pc handguards. Stock has the “P” proof on grip and has the DoD acceptance cartouche on left side. Buttstock is mounted with an “MRT / 11-52” laced-on leather cheekpiece. Sling loops contain a cloth sling. Buttplate is stamped sheet metal with trap that contains an orig 4-section cleaning rod with tip and handle in orig cloth case and a double ended plastic oil bottle. PROVENANCE: Alan Brown Coll. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains most of its orig gray/green Parkerized finish with gas tube retaining most of a restored black finish. Receiver and trigger loop also retain most of a fine restored finish. Cheekpiece appears new. Sling is fine. Stock has a few minor storage and handling nicks and dings and retains most of its orig oil finish. Handguards are probably modern replacements. Mechanics are fine, very bright shiny bore. Scope has been cleaned and artificially aged. Optics are fine. 4-39340 JR319 (1,500-2,500)
