FINE REPOUSSE SILVER CHARGER, A. ORTEGA. Second quarter 20th century. This exceptional Mexican silver charger, manufactured and signed by Alfredo Ortega, features a border of interlocking C-scrolls alternating with fruit sprays within a scalloped ribbed border, centering a large repousse classical handled urn filled with fruit and berries within a circle of scrolling brightwork. The “Ortega” hallmark is below the urn. On the back of the charger are four hallmarks “925”, “ORTEGA”, “MEXICO”, and a displayed eagle above the numerals “12487”. Total weighable 59 troy ounces. SIZE: 17-1/2″ dia. CONDITION: Overall in very nice condition, with minor and minimal surface scratches on burnished areas. Hallmarks all distinct. 9-94511 (1,500-2,500)
