*EARLY WINCHESTER MODEL 70 HEAVY TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 300 Magnum (300 H&H). SN 82365. Scarce heavy target rifle with early bbl markings “300 Magnum”. These markings ion later years were changed to 300 H&H. It has 28″ tapered heavy round target bbl with Lyman 77 globe front sight and a Lyman WH receiver sight with target knobs. The front receiver ring and bbl are mounted with target scope blocks and the rear receiver bridge is untapped. It has doll’s head top tang and transition safety. It is mounted in a straight-grained heavy target stock and has wide forearm and deep pistol grip stock with flat-checkered steel buttplate. It has a sling rail on the bottom of the forestock with hand stop and two sling loops with corresponding loop on the buttstock. A round red & white plastic disc identifying the rifle accompanies it. These discs were used by the Peter & Patty Murray Collection for identification. CONDITION: Near new, matching, possibly unfired, retaining virtually all of its orig factory finish to both metal & wood with a few minor storage & handling surface mars. 4-53773 JR59 (2,000-3,000)
