JOHN CALVIN STEVENS (American, 1855-1940) “ICE AND SNOW”. Oil on canvas mounted on board winter scene shows a snow covered ground with evergreens after a recent snow. Signed lower left “John Calvin Stevens”. Housed in a modern silver gilt frame. Stevens worked most of his life in the Portland, Maine area and was affiliated with the “Brushians Group”. Pencil inscribed on reverse with an indication that it was for the Salmagundi Auction. SIZE: 14″ x 14″. CONDITION: Minor inpainting, very good. 9-96379 (1,200-1,500)
