FINE NEW HAVEN ARMS NO. 1 VOLCANIC PISTOL. Cal. 31. SN 490. Scarce pistol, one of only about 3,300 manufactured in period 1857-1860. This little pistol has a 3-5/8” oct bbl with integral magazine tube, pinched blade front sight & fixed rear sight, mounted at top rear of frame. It has the New Haven markings on top flat. Fitted with smooth walnut grips numbered to this revolver. Serial number was observed on left side of frame under grip, inside grips and inside the sideplates. No further disassembly was attempted. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl & magazine tube retain 96-97% glossy bright orig factory blue with light edge wear. Receiver & grip frame retain a smooth, medium, mustard patina with crisp edges and only three or four small nicks on each sideplate. Lever retains about 75% glossy orig blue with balance flaked to a light patina. Hammer retains about 80% orig faded case colors. Grips are sound with high point edge wear and retain most of their orig factory varnish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-30293 JR83 (6,000-9,000)
