WALDO PEIRCE (American, 1884-1970) TWO WORKS: “THE SCARECROW” AND “KITTENS”. 1) Watercolor study for the original painting in the Schneider Museum of Art, Southern Oregon State College, Ashland, Oregon. The pencil, pen and ink watercolor shows a scarecrow with swan decorated umbrella in a field and tree setting. Inscribed lower left “For Ellen WP”. Housed in a metal frame with white matte. 2) Watercolor study shows two cats, one sitting and one lying with paws tucked under. They sit on a purple floor. Signed lower right “WP41″. Housed in a decorative wood frame with double mattes. NOTE: Accompanying the work is an appraisal by John W. Peirce dated 1989. SIZE: Sight: 1) 11″ x 8-1/4″. 2) 9-1/2″ x 8”.
