RARE CARVED AND POLYCHROME PAINTED CAROUSEL FIGURE OF A RUNNING ROOSTER, ATTRIBUTED TO CHARLES J. SPOONER (1871-1932). Wonderful paint decorated rooster carved from pine with original hinged neck construction, crusty polychrome park paint surface with original fittings for mounting. Size: 52” l x 61-1/2” l x 12” w. CONDITION: With heavily weathered and dry surface, some losses to wood along tail seam, paint is faded, weathered and flaking. Structurally very good original untouched condition. NOTE: This lot is accompanied by literature on Charles Spooner, taken from “Fairground Art” by Geoff Weedon and Richard Ward. 9-74467 QP (8,000-12,000)
