WINCHESTER MODEL 1890 CASE COLORED PUMP ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 22 Short. SN 36201. Standard grade rifle, 2nd model with 24-3/8″ oct bbl, 3/4 magazine, standard front sight and fixed rear sight. It has very nicely figured American walnut wood with tiny ribbed forearm & straight stock with crescent buttplate. It has case colored receiver & buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 92-93% dull orig blue with some losses and light freckles near the muzzle end. Receiver retains about 85% orig case colors, bright on the left side, muted & thin on the right side, bright in the sheltered areas on the bottom, turning silver elsewhere. Tangs are a silver/brown patina with a spot of bright color behind the hammer. Buttplate retains a trace of case colors with the balance turned silver and brown patina. Wood is sound with the forearm showing moderate to heavy use and the buttstock with light nicks & scratches and a couple of small bruises with some dark oil staining around the wrist, otherwise retains about 75% strong orig varnish. Hammer is a later replacement and one of the bolt screws is missing. Good mechanics, strong bright bore with some very light orange peel in the grooves. 4-54913 JR184 (2,750-4,250)
