WWI BRITISH FLYING ACE ARCHIVE OF STEVE ST. MARTIN. This wonderful archive consists of seven very large (11”x14”) volumes containing photographs, clippings, magazine articles and other materials relating primarily to Britain’s WWI aces, although some Belgian aces are covered as well. St. Martin collected these materials by traveling around the world in the 1960s and 1970s visiting surviving combat pilots and their families and making copies of the materials in their scrapbooks and photo albums. There are approximately 3500 photographs in this archive, and numerous newspaper and magazine clippings, even a full-length color comic-book story of one pilot’s career. This fantastic collection is the product of many years of hard work and dedication. When St. Martin collected these materials, the surviving pilots were elderly. Now 30-40 years later, with the pilots deceased and their artifacts scattered, it would be impossible to assemble such a massive archive. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to obtain a unique and outstanding research resource, taken directly from primary source materials. 4-50085 (3,000-5,000)
