Oil on canvas coastal scene shows a rising sun in a blue and white/gray cloud sky casting light and shadows on a steep cliff shoreline with waves oncoming with sea foam. The sun reflects in the foreground calm water. Signed lower right “W Hart” and dated “1864”. Housed in a fine reproduction gilt gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 12″ x 20″. PROVENANCE: Private Collection, Marietta, Georgia. CONDITION: Very good, relined with inpainting. 9-99991 (12,000-15,000)
