HARRY J. SUNTER (AMERICAN, 1850 – ) “A RELIC OF OLD EASTPORT, ME”. A large oil on canvas harbor scene shows two sail fishing boats moored to dock. A wharf with buildings on a timber-formed foundation with cut out passage. One of the connected buildings has a bell on roof and a figure walks down the stairs towards the boats. Signed lower left “SUNTER 86″. Housed in what may be its original deep carved walnut frame with gold liner. An unusual topographical painting documenting one of Maine’s easternmost towns. Titled and signed on reverse of stretcher. SIZE: 25″ x 40”. PROVENANCE: A private Maine collection. CONDITION: Minor touch up. Very good. 9-97470 (2,000-4,000)
