VAN ZANDT (American, 19th Century) ON POINT. Oil on canvas hunting scene shows a white and brown setter on point directing its gaze beyond the painting towards a small bushy area. A hunter with double barrel shotgun follows into the opening of the woods. A small stream is seen with rocks and cows are in a fenced area in the background. Signed on rock “Van Zandt 1874”. We are not sure whether this is Thomas Kirby Van Zandt (1814-1886) or William Van Zandt (19th Century). Housed in what appears to be its original lemon gold frame. SIZE: 20-1/2” x 30”.
