*ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL 1903 RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. SN 17338. 24” bbl dated “4-06”. What appears to be an arsenal redone Rock Island 03 that shows very well & would take some expertise to discern that it has been redone. A nice example for a beginning collector. CONDITION: Receiver is 98% arsenal blue with small areas of pitting visible under blue. Bolt also is 95% blue, also with small areas of pitting under blue particularly on rear assembly. Bbl shows 98% blue with minor pitting again under blue as does front sight hood. Front bbl band is arsenal refinished also with 95% blue with a few spots of lightly scattered rust. Center bbl band shows 99% arsenal blue. Rear sight sleeve & sight assembly show 98% blue. Windage knob, though dished & checkered, is incorrect for this rifle. Buttplate assembly shows 75% orig blue with scattered rust. Flat top hand guard assembly appears to be orig with no clips & is in excellent condition as refinished. Buttstock shows minor dings throughout but is in very good condition as refinished with a reasonably visible “1906” cartouche. Trigger guard & floorplate assembly are in 95% refinished condition with minor scratches & a slight buggering to rear screw. Bore has moderate to heavy pitting throughout & rifling is only slightly visible. 4-57826 BK65 (1,000-1,800)
