GEORGE M. HATHAWAY (AMERICAN, 1852-1903) PORTRAIT OF THE SAILBOAT MARION HAGGETT. Oil on canvas scene shows the one masted sailboat in full sail, sailing left to right with two other vessels on the horizon. The name emblazoned on front bow and having two figures aboard. Signed lower left “G.M.HATHAWAY 1899″. Housed in a gesso-decorated period gilt frame. The Haggett was built in 1877 on Swan’s Island, Maine and its home port was Brooklyn Maine. SIZE: 13″ x 19”. PROVENANCE: From a private Maine collection. CONDITION: Very good, some inpainting. Relined. 9-97468 (2,000-4,000)
