CIVIL WAR USED AMES 1840 PATTERN ARTILLERY HANGER. Single edged 32-1/2” blade with a moderate curve, brass hand guard with single knuckle bow and ball quillion, leather wrapped handle with twisted brass wire and oval pommel cap. The left riccaso marked with the Ames name and address and the right ricasso marked with a small “US/J.C.W./1865”. Accompanied by its orig. steel scabbard with double hanger rings. CONDITION: Fine. The blade retains most of its orig. polish with a few small nicks in the cutting edge, medium mustard patina on the brass, fine leather wrap. The scabbard has a medium dark brown patina with scattered fine pitting. 4-45377 JL372 (400-700)
