CONFEDERATE TYPE SIDE-KNIFE.

CONFEDERATE TYPE SIDE-KNIFE. Double-edged diamond shaped spear point blade, 9-13/16″ long X 1-1/2″ w with an elliptical iron hand guard and dark hardwood tapered handle scales secured with three iron rivets. One side of blade is marked in ink with what possibly is a museum number “NOVI/1612”. Accompanied by its orig. leather sheath with brass throat and tip. CONDITION: Blade is cleaned bright with old file marks and sanding lines. Otherwise it is nearly intact. Blade and hand guard retain a light metal color. The handles are fine with a small chip missing from one side and have a fine old hand-rubbed patina. The sheath is crackled and missing finish but has been treated with a preservative. The brass tip and throat have a dark mustard patina. 4-45086 JL186 (1,000-1,500)
