CIVIL WAR PERIOD BRITISH IMPORTED CAVALRY OFFICER’S SABER. British Pattern 1853 Cavalry Officer’s saber, with a single edged, 32″ long blade with a single stopped fuller. The 3-branch guard is of iron , with a wooden grip, bird’s head style pommel and backstrap. The blade is plain, without decoration and unmarked. Scabbard of iron with two carrying rings. The scabbard is crudely acid etched “Confederate Cavalry Saber” CONDITION: Fair, all metal is dark and shows very heavy wear. Pitting overall. The leather and wire is worn from the grip, markings are spurious. 4-45253 CW (500-600)
