RARE CARVED IVORY RELIEF BELIEVED TO BE PRESIDENT JAMES BUCHANAN. Buchanan was president of the United States between 1857-1861. Oval carving is mounted on daguerreotype cased back with gold mat. Unsigned and is housed in a mother of pearl papier mache case. Bust is shown front on, wearing suit and bow tie. SIZE: 2″ h x 1 3/4″ w.
