SCROLL “IMPERIAL HUNT IN A PALACE PARK” AFTER GIUSEPPE CASTIGLIONE (LANG SHINING).

Circa 1900, China. Signature with two seals reading: “Imperial Hunt in a Palace Park”. Ink and colors on silk. Four inscriptions, three on paper painted with dragons and clouds, peaches and peach trees: #1, #2 #3 and one inscription in Tibetan and Manchu. After some research we have been able to partially translate some of the old style writing & seals however we were unable to translate it completely. 1) Villa of the Captured Deer Painting (Shang zhuang huo lu tu, there is only one line of Chinese and rest are Manchurian, Mongolian and another language) 2) Villa ….., the seal is (Qian Long chen han) one of Qian Long ‘s seal 3) One of Qian Long ‘s Mark 4) Unidentified 5) First seal unidentified, 2nd is (Chen, Shi Ning) one of the Castiglione’s seal 6) One of Qian Long’s Mark (Qian Long Yu Jian Zhi Bao ) 7) Produced South of the river , Lackey (humble servant) LI CHENG, with reverence 8) Unidentified 9) One of Qian Long’s Mark (Qian Long Yu Jian Zhi Bao) 10) Two of Qian Long’s Marks (Gan, Long) 11) One of Qian Long’s Mark (Yun Xia Si) 12) One of Qian Long’s Mark (Xi Tian Zhu Ren) 13) Hai Xi courtier, Lang Shi Ning (Castiglione’s Chinese name) written with reverence 14) Unidentified 15) One of Qian Long’s mark (Gu Xi Tian Zi) 16) One of Qian Long ‘s mark (Qian Long Chen Han) SIZE: 200″ x 26″.
