MOTTLED WHITE JADE CARVED “LIONS” STAMP SEAL.

China. Of square section, the finial of the seal is carved with Buddhist lion standing with its cub by its side facing the older lion, their faces are detailed with bulging eyes, long eyebrows, pronounced noses, and mouth open revealing the teeth are shown with fierce expressions. The bushy manes and curled tails are finely incised. The stone is of white tone with good patina. Uncarved base. SIZE: 4-5/8″ (11.7 cm) h x 4″ (10.2 cm) w. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection from a renowned Taiwanese Diplomatic Family – Cai Wanjun (? – 2011), Xu Shaochang (1913–1999), and Ye Gongchao (1904 – 1981).
