DREYSE SIDE OPENING HAMMERLESS SHOTGUN. Cal. about 14 bore. Very unusual side swinging dbl. bbl shotgun with 27″ damascus bbls and damascus receiver mounted on a 1-pc modestly figured walnut stock. It has dbl. triggers with an iron and horn trigger guard. The under lever is swiveled to the left which allows the bbls to slide forward and pivot to the right extracting the cartridges from the chamber in the same motion. The smooth top rib is tapered with a dovetailed German silver front sight and a single leaf folding rear sight, and is inlaid with silver maker’s name and city. The receiver is inlaid with very fine silver arabesque patters and the lever and iron part of the trigger guard are beautifully engraved. Lever is inlaid with a silver dog and the trigger guard with a silver auerhaun. Stock has a checkered wrist and thick cheek piece with engraved smooth steel buttplate. SN 17688. CONDITION: Very good. The bbls retain 75-80% brown damascus pattern and receiver about 95% brown damascus pattern. Wood is sound with a fine hand patina. Bores are moderately pitted with some shine.
