VERY FINE MODEL 1868 TRAPDOOR SPRINGFIELD RIFLE.

SN 21087. Cal. 50. Standard configuration with 32-1/2″ bbl made from Civil War surplus 1863 dated Springfield musket. Breech block dated “1869” with eagle head and “US” surcharge. Lock has standard Springfield markings of eagle, “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD” and “1863” rear of hammer. Matching SNs are found on bbl and breech. CONDITION: Fine overall. Bbl is bright/grey. Breech and lock are grey/silver with traces of case colors. Stock is sound with old refinish such that the Civil War cartouches are weak. Gun appears orig and complete.
