*RARE 28 GAUGE BROWNING SUPERPOSED P2N SUPERLIGHT SHOTGUN ENGRAVED BY J. BAERTEN WITH CASE.

SN P73RR1438. Cal. 28 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 26-1/2″ Bbls marked for IC and Mod, have Morgan Utah and Montreal PQ addresses and “MADE IN BELGIUM” on top bbl to left of narrow, matted, ventilated rib. Coin finished, small sized, OU Superlight rounded action features usual gold-plated selective single trigger. Action is engraved with near full coverage large open acanthus and scroll similar to that found on “Diana” grade guns, surrounding semi-relief carved scene of gold inlaid duck flying across bottom of action. Left side depicts a pair of gold geese flushing from marsh. A retriever is surprised by mallard erupting from bulrushes on right. Trigger guard has vacant ovate area on bow. This fine engraving is signed “J. Baerten” at bottom rear of left side. Superb burl/ stump figured American walnut straight grip Superlight oil finished buttstock measures 14-1/4″ over skip line checkered wood butt, and has typical “Midas” grade checkering at grip. Special order 3-pc Superlight forend is of nicely streaked walnut. Bore diameter: top -.542, bottom – .542. Bore restrictions: top – .012 (mod), bottom – .008 (IC). Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb: 1-7/16″. Cast: Neutral. Weight: 6 lbs. 3 oz. LOP: 14-1/4″. Brown vinyl Hartmann case is lined in faux fleece, and contains instruction booklet and two keys. CONDITION: Excellent, very near to new, with only a few light handling and assembly marks on wood and metal finishes; scant evidence of firing since proof. Mechanically crisp. Case is excellent, with some light scuffs. Interior cloth is slightly soiled from contact with bbls. A scarce Browning with only 63 produced in 28 ga. 50730-2 MGM98 (12,000-18,000) – Lot 3551
