*GORGEOUS A.H. FOX DE GRADE SHOTGUN.

SN 22555. Cal 12 ga. 2-3/4″ chambers. 30″ Krupp Fluid Steel bbls with full length matted top rib and steel front bead marked on top “Krupp Fluid Steel made by A.H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. Pa”. Water table with SN and grade designation noted and bbl flats with same, and stamped “Fox proof”. Double nicked plated triggers, auto ejectors, auto safety. Beautifully figured straight grip stock with checkered side panels and checkered through wrist with wave pattern extending behind comb. Serrated lined HRBP. Splinter forearm checkered in standard early D pattern with floral engraved Deely latch and elongated thin ebony tip. Receiver is fully and finely engraved in Fox’s famous shaded floral vine pattern. Left side of receiver with two ducks in a marsh scene, right side finely engraved with quail in field scene. Bottom of frame with two dogs in field scene and nicely cut grass shading. Trigger plate with fine floral scroll engraving and shaded background. Fences are finely floral engraved with dragon heads as is typically seen on second generation engraved D’s. Trigger guard, bow with vine floral engraving and open shield, tang with light vine floral engraving and SN noted. Top of frame, top lever, and top tang all finely vine floral scroll engraved. Safety marked with gold “SAFE”. Accompanied by a copy of orig order card noting shipment to Ellery Arms Co. Bore diameter: left – .731, right – .729. Bore restrictions: left – .038 (full), right – .038 (full). Minimum wall thickness: left – .026, right – .025 . Weight: 7 lbs. 4 oz. Drop at comb: 1-11/16″, drop at heel: 2-7/16″. LOP: 14-3/16″. PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent overall. Bbls retain nearly all of superb quality re-black. Receiver retains some orig case color though it is difficult to tell given full coverage shaded engraving, as much as perhaps 30% vivid. Buttstock and forearm are exceptional as restored with just minute handling marks. Trigger guard retains nearly all of its expertly restored blue. Ejectors are slightly out of time, other mechanics are crisp. Bbls are on face. Near mirror bores. Simply stated a beautiful and classy high grade Fox. 50594-8 JSL (7,500-12,500) C&R – Lot 3525
