*VERY RARE 28 GAUGE WINCHESTER PARKER REPRODUCTION “A1 SPECIAL” SHOTGUN WITH STRAIGHT GRIP, EXTRA BARRELS, AND CASE.

SN A-1 28-027. Cal. 28 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 00 Frame. 26″ and 28″ Bbls are marked “Parker Reproduction By WINCHESTER East Alton IL U.S.A. Made in Japan” on concave, matted ribs. There are 2-1/2″ triangles of hand cut scroll at breech ends which also have gold bands. There are 1/8″ bands of geometric engraving around muzzles. Gauge and chamber are marked on side of left bbls. Engine turned bbl flats are marked with Parker overload proofs, SNs, and chokes. Loops are stamped “1” or “2”; “1” 28″, are marked for mod and full, and “2” 26″ are marked improved cylinder and modified. Splinters are of reinforced type. Engine turned water table with lightening cuts is marked with grade and SN. Case hardened action is filed in “A1 Special” style with chevron on top lever, with pierced scroll thumbpiece. There are three beads around fences. Trigger guard bow is pierced. Action is hand engraved with near full coverage varying sized scroll within geometric borders surrounding semi-relief scenes of dogs; pair of pointers on left, setters on right, and with pointer and setter on bottom, and portrait of spaniel retrieving dove on trigger plate. “Parker Bros” is in relief gold on both sides of action under dog scenes. A woodcock is on trigger guard bow, and SN is raised gold inlaid on tang. Finely marbled and somewhat crotch figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/16″ over engraved skeleton steel buttplate. Central checkering has fleur-di-lis intrusions. Sunken side panels are checkered and pierced by raised fleur-di-lis, and have fleur-di-lis drop points. Checkering is of classic “A1 Special” fancy pattern wrapping over top of grip and with intrusions into comb. A vacant gold oval is on toe line. Matching splinter ejector forend with shaped metal tip, and typical latch has engine turned iron. BBL SET “1”: Bore diameter: left -.552, right – .552. Bore restrictions: left – .036 (extra full), right – .026 (full). Drop at heel: 2-3/16″, drop at comb: 1-1/4″. Cast: Neutral. Weight: 5 lbs. 13 oz. LOP: 14-3/16″. BBL SET “2”: Bore diameter: left -.555, right – .554. Bore restrictions: left – .025 (full), right – .012 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-3/16″, drop at comb: 1-1/4″. Cast: Neutral. Weight: 5 lbs. 12 oz. LOP: 14-3/16″. Orig high quality oak and leather case with zippered tan canvas outer cover, is lined in green felt, and has Parker Reproduction Winchester label in lid. Case contains Parker Reproduction marked snap caps, oil bottle, and instruction booklet, along with two keys. CONDITION: Excellent, essentially as new and purportedly unfired, with only a few very light handling and assembly marks in wood and metal. It appears unfired since proof. Mechanically crisp. Case leather is excellent, as protected by its outer cover, which has a few light rubs. Interior shows some compressions.
