COLT MODEL 1898 DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER. SN 9640. Cal. 44-40. 4″ round bbl. The left side of the bbl is marked “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER” in an etched panel. The front of the trigger guard is marked “44CF”. Sheriff’s Models are very rare in the large frame dbl. action. CONDITION: Generally fine, about 70% of the bright nickel plate remaining, worn on the grip strap and on the muzzle. There is bright blue on the trigger and back of the hammer. Both grips are sun faded and the left one has some chips and wear at the high spot. Mechanically fine. 4-46379 FS167 (2,000-3,000)
