Magazine is marked “Cal. 22” over “Colt” on base. PROVENANCE: The Frank H. Wheaton, III Collection. CONDITION: Very fine to excellent as professionally refinished. Bbl retains nearly all of the bright blue finish with sharp markings. Adjustable front sight is very good. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Slide also retains 95% blue finish with a few slight scratch marks. Receiver retains 98% blue finish with sharp markings. Magazine shows nearly all of the blue with some slight scratch marks. Grips are fine with sharp checkering and no chips. It appears that this pistol was fitted for a high speed spring housing. Note: All markings have been filled with white machinist ink to make them more legible. Refinish was probably accomplished when the pistol was refitted with a high speed spring housing.
