*SUPERB IVO FABBRI SELF-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER GAME GUN WITH MAGNIFICENT LARGE SCROLL BY C. TOMASONI WITH CASE.

SN E535. Cal. 12 ga. 27″ Chopper lump bbls fitted with slightly raised, flat, hand matted rib are engraved “IVO FABBRI ARMI – BRESCIA – ITALY -” and gold inlaid “Made Especially For George W. Gill. Jr.” on side of left bbl and “BOHLER SUPER BLITZ STEEL” on right. Bbl flats are stamped with 1976 Italian nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers. Bbls are fitted with H&H type self-opening assist spring mechanism. Coin finished sidelock action with small reinforcing bolsters, features non-automatic safety (SAFE engraved), engraved line tumbler end cocking indicators, and nicely filed single non-selective trigger. Action and lockplates are engraved with 100% coverage truly exceptional semi-relief large attenuated open acanthus scroll with floral highlights. Tendrils of scroll pierce many blossoms, and intertwine at ends. This fine work has dramatic shading. Makers name and address are on two small bands on bottom of action. Engravers signature is on trigger plate, “C Tomasoni” (the highly regarded Claudio Tomasoni). Small bow trigger guard has SN on tang. Exhibition quality, magically marbled and lightly stump figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/8″ over fully checkered wood butt, and has slight diamond hand with well cut closely spaced point pattern checkering with line borders. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. It appears that this is gun “4” of a set, with gold “4” inlaid on rear portion of rib, top lever, and forend tip. Bore diameter: left -.726, right – .726. Bore restrictions: left – .022 (mod), right – .022 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-5/16″, drop at comb: 1-9/16″. Cast: approx 5/8″ off. Weight: 6 lbs. 14 oz. LOP: 14-1/8″. Tan leather case with stitched leather corners has greenish yellow canvas outer cover with tan leather trim. Interior is lined in burgundy cloth. Case contains rosewood and brass 2-pc cleaning rod with mop, jag and brush in black leather container, a pair of snap caps, square oil bottle, horn striker block, cleaning cloths, and an uninstalled Fabbri label. CONDITION: Excellent, very near to new, appears essentially unfired since proof, with only a few light handling and assembly marks on all wood and metal finishes. Mechanically crisp.
